It pays to be part of the collective

When you join you are getting together with 20,000+ union members who work in the same occupations and industries as you. NDU members know that having a union presence at their workplace gives them the power to stand up for their families, their futures and themselves. A legal binding collective employment agreement gives workers a strong collective voice with which to demand decent working conditions, with fair pay and benefits. That's what the NDU is about: decent working conditions, better pay and dignity and respect on the job. We have a strong industry culture, fully trained delegates and experienced organisers who know your industry. Our organisers are backed up by an experienced Employment Lawyer, a full time Education Organiser, a Publicity Officer and a National Management team that has a huge amount of industry and industrial knowledge.

Ways to join

  • See your NDU delegate if your worksite has one - they have application forms
  • Phone the union office to receive a "Join the Union" kit 0800 564 663 (0800 JOIN NDU)
  • Complete the application form on our website

We ask you to select the direct debit option to pay your fees. If you are the only person at your workplace who wants to join, we welcome you as an NDU member and will support you if in the future you have a problem at work. You will receive regular Union publications and are entitled to the benefits of union membership including telephone advice. However our resources do not allow us to regularly visit your workplace, negotiate individual employment agreements on your behalf, or take on pre-existing problems.
