    NZ Bus and the Auckland Combined Unions reached an agreement on a proposal for a Collective Employment Agreement at mediation today.  

    The unions will recommend to their members that they ratify the proposal at a ratification meeting to be held on Wednesday, 4 November.

    95% of Auckland bus drivers have voted by secret ballot against the recommendation of an employment relations authority facilitator released today.

    Auckland bus drivers came up with a constructive compromise to get the buses running at a mass meeting this morning. 

    Combined union spokesperson Karl Andersen said the drivers had a full and lively discussion on the facilitator's recommendation before having a secret ballot on whether to accept it.

    The Infratil/NZ Bus offer to lift the drivers lockout if unions withdraw notice of strike action is meaningless says the combined bus unions.

    Spokesperson Karl Andersen says it is in fact no offer at all as it would simply turn the clock back to last week without dealing with the underlying issue of pay rates for drivers.

    Locked out bus drivers and Infratil/NZ bus have been ordered into facilitation at 10 am tomorrow by the Employment Authority.

    While union officials are in facilitation the drivers will rally at the city bus depot in Halsey Street.
